Curt A. Tilmes

Computer Scientist

Dr. Curt Tilmes has been working at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center since 1994 in a variety of roles, primarily developing and running satellite data processing systems for the Earth Observing System (EOS). His research interests include data preservation and stewardship, with a focus on science data processing provenance representation and reproducibility. That focus has been supported by participation in the Federation of Earth Science Information Partners where he previously served as Chair of the Data Stewardship Committee and represented NASA on the ESIP Executive Committee. Serving as NASA's representative to the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Provenance Working Group, he helped develop international standards for provenance interchange. He was recently detailed from NASA to the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP), where he served as the technical lead for the Global Change Information System (GCIS), a data system initially supporting the provenance representation for the U.S. National Climate Assessment.  He later served as the NASA technical lead for the White House Climate Data Initiative.
