Esther Parish received the Science Communicator Award for Community Engagement at the 2017 UT-Battelle Awards Night, held on October 28. As this year’s winner, Parish was recognized by Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and UT-Battelle “for leading communication about renewable energy with creativity and enthusiasm.”

Dali Wang named IEEE senior member

Dali Wang, a senior research and development staff member in the Terrestrial Systems Modeling Group in the Environmental Sciences Division and the Integrated Ecosystem Sciences in the Climate Change Science Institute, has been elevated to the grade of senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Dr. Richard Norby named Fellow in the American Geophysical Union

Dr. Richard Norby, UT Battelle Corporate Research Fellow in the Environmental Sciences Division, Climate Change Science Institute and Joint Professor in the Bredesen Center for Interdisciplinary Research and Graduate Education, has been named a Fellow in the American Geophysical Union (AGU).

A new integrated computational model reduces uncertainty in climate predictions by bridging Earth systems with energy and economic models and large-scale human impact data.


Research scientists at the Climate Change Science Institute at Oak Ridge National Laboratory are once again assembling sessions at this year’s AGU 2017 National Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, December 11-15. Session topics range from biogeochemistry to Earth science data to the energy-water nexus.
