Yang Song

Post-doctoral Research Associate, Environmental Sciences Division

Yang Song is a postdoctoral research associate in the Environmental Sciences and the Climate Change Science Institute. She got her PhD in Atmospheric Science in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Song’s research interest is to develop, evaluate and apply numerical models to assess the interactions between terrestrial biosphere processes and climate change.  Research interests mainly focus on: (1) Using genomics information to improve the representation of biogeochemical Carbon, Nitrogen and Phosphorus cycles in the earth system models; (2) Improving parameterization of vegetation dynamics, with special emphasis on row crops and bioenergy crops, and its interaction with water and energy balances and soil Carbon, Nitrogen and Phosphorus dynamics; (3) Interaction between climate change and extreme weather facts with food/bioenergy production.
